Earthship Training Program in France
Normandy April-May 2007
This spring an experienced Earthship crew will be starting construction on Europe’s first residential Earthship to have a building permit. The total project consists of enclosing the structural shell of the building; tire walls, roof beams, insulation, greenhouse framing, and glazing. The water and power systems will also be installed enabling the project owners to utilize solar power and the water caught on site for further construction purposes. Greywater planters will be constructed, interior walls will be built, and with time permitting finishes will be started. In an effort to spread knowledge and skills about Earthships globally, Earthship Biotecture will be hosting a training program as part of this build. We will be offering the opportunity to work alongside our Earthship Commando Crew for the first six weeks of this project. For each week long session we will accept six people into the program. As part of the training participants will receive an introductory lecture and slideshow about Earthships and the specifics of the France project. Each day participants will have the opportunity to learn and assist in construction methods which are specific to Earthship building; such as pounding tires to form a thermal mass wall, building nonstructural walls with bottles and cans, and mixing and applying earthen plaster as well as many other aspects of construction. Due to the timeline of the project each weekly session will be involved with a different part of the build and participants may not get to experience all aspects mentioned above.
We are looking for people with a willingness to work hard, an interest in sustainable building techniques and the desire to apply the knowledge gained to future projects
The cost for the training is $300 per week. If you are chosen you may participate in as many weeks as you choose. Participants will need to provide their own food and accommodation.

Earthship Trainigsprogramm in Frankreich

Diesen Frühling wird eine erfahrene Earthship-Mannschaft den Bau des ersten bewilligten europäischen Earthships, in dem gewohnt werden wird, beginnen. Das gesamte Projekt umfasst die gesamte Baustruktur, von den tragenden Wänden aus Reifen, Dachbalken, Isolierung, Gewächshausverglasung samt Rahmen. Das Wasser- und Stromsystem wird ebenfalls installiert, um den Bauherrn die Nutzung der Solarenergie und die Nutzung des Wassers, das am Bauplatz gesammelt werden kann, zu ermöglichen. Grauwasserplanzungen werden konstruiert, Zwischenwände werden gebaut und wenn es die Zeit erlaubt, werden die Innen- und Abschlussarbeiten begonnen. Im Bestreben, Wissen und Können bez. Earthships global zu verbreiten, wird Earthship Biotecture ein Trainingsprogramm veranstalten als Teil dieses Baus. Wir werden die Möglichkeit anbieten neben unserer Earthship Bautruppe während sechs Wochen dieses Projekts, zu arbeiten. Als Teil des Trainings erhalten die Teilnehmer eine Einführung und Diashow über Earthships und Eigenheiten des französischen Projekts. Jeden Tag haben die Teilnehmer die Möglichkeit spezielle Earthship-Baumethoden zu lernen und zu unterstützen; wie z.B. das Stampfen der Reifen um eine Wand mit thermaler Masse zu bilden, Bauen von nicht tragenden Wänden mit Flaschen und Dosen, Mischen und Anbringen von irdenem Verputz genau so wie viele andere Aspekte des Bauens. Während des Ablaufs des Projekts wird jede Woche in einem anderen Teil des Bauens beschäftigt sein und Teilnehmer werden nicht alle Erfahrungen, die oben erwähnt sind bekommen.
Wir suchen Leute mit dem Willen zu harter Arbeit, Interesse an nachhaltigen Bautechniken und dem Wunsch das gewonnene Wissen in künftigen Projekten einzusetzen.
Die Kosten für dieses Training sind 300 USD pro Woche (heute, 5.1.2007 € 228,40). Wenn Du ausgewählt wirst, kannst Du so viele Wochen teilnehmen, wie Du dich angemeldet hast. Die Teilnehmer müssen selbst für Verpflegung und Unterkunft sorgen.
